Parkinson's Wellness Recovery (PWR!)

As exercise is one of those key things that can slow down the progression of Parkinson’s disease, teaching individuals diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease to do specific exercises for management of symptoms will help you keep active much longer. LSVT-BIG Program

This program helps individuals with Parkinson’s disease move their body more. LSVT BIG effectively trains improved movements for any activity, whether “small motor” tasks like buttoning a shirt or “large motor” tasks like getting up from sofa or chair or maintaining balance while walking. The treatment improves walking, self-care and other tasks by helping people “recalibrate” how they perceive their movements with what others actually see.

LSVT BIG treatment is delivered one-on-one and is tailored to each person’s own abilities and goals so that they work towards what’s meaningful to them.

It requires (and can only be given by) an LSVT BIG Certified Clinician as part of prescribed physical or occupational therapy.

Each treatment protocol consists of the following:

  • 60-minute, individual treatment sessions
  • Treatment sessions are four consecutive days a week for four consecutive weeks
  • Daily homework practice (10-20 minutes a day) all 30 days of the month
  • Daily carryover assignments all 30 days of the month
